Movement for our HumanKind

July

On movement and kindness.

In our fast-paced world of heavy news and faceless corporations, kindness has become a rare commodity and a radical act.

Hearing the recent headlines about what is going on in legislature and international relations, it becomes harder to remember where to find kindness.

Turning to much of the fitness industry, kindness is often forsaken in favor of appearances and outcomes.

But it doesn’t have to be this way.

Instead of prioritizing higher load and more reps, we can practice kindness and furthermore, we can practice moving with kindness. This is a movement that tends to the relationship one has with oneself and how one relates to others.

Let your body be the guide, listen to the way your body moves, and treat it with kindness. Moving through the world in such a way is an act of kindness toward your body.

This kindness is a way of acknowledging one’s own humanity while honoring what it is that connects us with others, what makes us human.

What might this human kind of movement look like?

Being able to move one’s body, to dance through the world with lightness and feeling, shows us the power of this human kind of movement.

Moving with kindness can look like listening to what your body needs, drinking water, eating something delicious.

Moving with kindness can look like rest.

Moving with kindness can look like dancing with someone you love.

This is a movement about moving with kindness.

This is our human kind of movement.
